Meet the Q Family: Josh

Meet Josh.

Graphic Artist. Food lover.  King of sarcasm.

Favourite expression: Yes, I would like fries with that.

Favourite children’s book: Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak

Website you visit the most: Buzzfeed

A free day is spent: Relaxing while Netflixing.

Biggest pet peeve:  Squeaking styrofoam – I view it as an act as terrorism.

Favourite story to tell: My favourite* story to tell is about meeting Chris Rock in an impoverished shanty town in Soweto, South Africa. We walked into this one tiny restaurant and there was only one other family there. We all said hello and he was lovely.

*This is not my favourite story but it’s the only one I can think of. Although it is a good story.

Dream project:  I think my dream project would be some sort of really weird music video that involves weird costumes and lots of puppets.

Something quirky about yourself: I’ll only eat cheese strings if they’re properly sculpted into shapes of people.

A dinner party with any three people, dead or alive – who’s at the table? Tim Burton, Kermit the Frog, Spike Jonze.

What did you want to grow up to be? Taller (still hasn’t happened)

Why aren’t you doing that now?  Because the hormones in my body didn’t allow me to grow taller (but being with the Q family makes me feel 7 feet tall!)

If you could be a character in a movie – who would it be? It’s a tie between Spiderman (no walking required – just swinging) and Captain Jack (that beard!)

What’s your “Q” connection? My old roommate’s mother was good friends with Dorothy through TVO and really encouraged me to send my resume in for months and months and once I finally did, Dorothy invited me into the Q team.

Most memorable Q project: My first project ever – an animated video for Canon about printers. It was a huge learning experience. They gave me full creative control over the entire project so it was very scary but very rewarding once it was completed.

What do you like most about working at Q? The family lunches on Friday and the topics of debate at work. The conversations that come up at Q are very entertaining.

What makes you happy? Food. Specifically pizza and chicken nuggets.
