Spring
2008
In the spring of 2008 q media began to produce a series of videos
for the Globe and Mail initiative, Business Incubator (www.globeandmail.com/incubator). The
CISCO sponsored series features companies that are using technology
to move their business or service forward in innovative ways.
This story features Cooke Aquaculture,
a New Brunswick success story. Cooke is one of the largest fish farmers in the
world. Over the past number of years they’ve bought
and turned around a number of local fish farms and turned them
into a profitable business. How? Networked communications
technology keeps Cooke staff on the cutting edge. Staff
receive constant updates on worldwide commodity prices so they
can make informed harvesting decisions, while farm managers receive
ongoing updates on water temperatures and environmental conditions
to make key decisions around feed supply.
Director Richard Quinlan and editor Graeme Mathieson teamed up
to produce an interesting look at a surprising and innovative company.
