March 5th, 2003. A 78-year-old woman dies in a Toronto
hospital of SARS. So begins this gripping video which looks
at SARS aftermath and the creation of a nationwide electronic
Public Health Surveillance Tool called Panorama, developed by
Canada Health Infoway. The video was produced in December
07 and updated in August 08.
A big part of the q team has a hand in this
one, designers Graeme Mathieson and Matthew Bennett, editor Steve
Lang, director Richard Quinlan and narrator Dorothy Engelman. The video features
a dramatic graphic look and feel along with a gripping narrative. Minister
of Health Tony Clement ends the video with a compelling message
- the need for better tools like Panorama to help meet the challenges
the next SARS will present. Ironically this summer’s
Listeriosis outbreak again illustrates the need for a solution
like this. Panorama begins to roll-out in the spring of 2009.
