Thirteen years ago Frank Bialystock was dying from liver disease. A transplant gave Frank a second life and a second Bar Mitzvah. Frank, his remarkable family and congregation let us in their home and synagogue to tell a very personal and important story for a community reluctant to consider registering for organ donation. Frank’s story helps to illustrate that organ donation, far from being against religious orthodoxy, can be considered the highest mitzvah of all.
