Barrick’s business is built on partnerships. That means balancing their own interests with those of the communities they operate in. This interactive website was developed to tell the story of the unlikely partnership between Barrick and the Western Shoshone.

the challenge.

With the tenth anniversary of the partnership approaching Barrick wanted to tell the origin story of the relationship and showcase the many components of the partnership that have evolved over time. They decided to create a web story but needed an approach that would keep readers engaged from beginning to end.

An interactive website.

With so much content on the internet competing for attention, keeping a viewer’s interest and enticing them to stay on your page can be difficult. This problem becomes magnified when you have a complex story to tell like the Barrick Shoshone partnership. That’s why we took a visual storytelling approach using a mixture of video, audio clips, animated graphics and photography. Instead of breaking up the content into multiple pages we created one interactive page for the user to scroll through with videos and animations being triggered as they scroll the screen. We designed bold headlines for quotes along with animated graphs to move the story forward.

the secret sauce.

Think outside the box. 

Scrolling through a static page can become tedious for a user. Using interactive elements keeps the user engaged and helps guide them forward down the page to see what comes up next.

Working with Barrick’s web team we were able to create a unique user experience that adheres to Barrick’s brand and integrates seamlessly into their existing site.
