Meet the Q Family: Mike

Meet Mike.

Sound engineer master. Spaghetti addict. Chronic smiler.

Favourite children’s book: “More Spaghetti, I Say!” By Rita Golden Gelman. It depicts a pair of monkey siblings, and revolves around a sister who cannot play with her little brother due to her oppressive spaghetti addiction. Once they grimly decide she must detox, he discovers that he too is addicted to spaghetti. And so am I.

Dream project: Any time I get to learn something new, or are working outside my normal comfort zone.

Something quirky about yourself? I smile for no reason and it frequently contributes to a general nefarious look. Don’t be alarmed, I am fine.

What did you want to grow up to be? My grade one yearbook says I wanted to be ‘banker’.

Why aren’t you doing any of those things now? Because my parents decided to love me regardless (thanks mom and dad!)

If you could be a character in a movie – who would it be? Easy. Ernie from Billy Madison. He hits rock bottom early on in life, and you know he’s a good future prospect with strong interpersonal skills, fair and just attitude, killer haircut. 

What’s your “Q” connection? Best friend and former Q production coordinator, Allie Walsh! 

Biggest pet peeve: This horrendous tower that shines into my bedroom.

What do you like most about working at Q? Being an audio person that also gets to take an Adobe After Effects course with my boss.

Most memorable Q project: SunnyBrook BiPolar Series (coming out soon), or tv commercials with Dominion Lending.

What makes you happy? Sunshine and busy day.
